We have had several people ask why we wrote the songs we did. Well...here's a bit of insight.

Do This With You

I wrote this song about the dream that Layne and I have for music. We have spent a lot of time dreaming and talking about this big music thing. It is something we could do solo, but it is so much better doing this together. Beyond us, it is about anyone who has this huge thing in life theey want to do. But even better...having someone with whom they can share the ride. Really...I won't love this like I would love this with you.

You Get to Miss This

W/M by Layne Elizabeth and Naki Black

No hidden agenda. This song is about the unfortunate souls who have to spend the rest of their lives missing out on the package of wonder that is...well...us! Exes. We kind of prefer the term SUCKAS.

Open Road

This is the first song Layne and I wrote together. It is a song about possibility. And in this band...we like possibility.

Glitter

W/M by Naki Black

I wrote this song about a relationship that imploded. The song is written from the perspective of the part who committed the crimes. The way everything is worded, the way the music is written, were all written to match the actions, personality, and attitudes of that person. Glitter is full of heartbreak and hurt, but it's glossed over with the "everything is fun and fun" layer to create a buffer toward actual feeling. It is just like the situation it portrays. It is deceptively happy while being quite sad...but it's nothing a little red lipstick couldn't fix, right?

Hello FABkins,

Well HELLO from WASHINGTON! We made the flight over to record the first four songs of the Fifth and Brook Place album. Oh. My. Goodness.

Aside from this being a giant dream come true, we are having the time of our lives laughing with one another, Dylan Fant and Molly Fiorentino (who is also laying down some sweet tracks of her own). Washington in the fall is, by far, the most beautiful place Naki or I have ever visited. Consequentially, we have the most amazing backdrop for this momentous occasion in our lives.

As of right now, we've got two tracks that are very close to completion. Last night we were able to listen to the mastered cut of 'Open Road' and the both of us were only able to laugh and smile...no words. The feelings that were present at that moment can only really be captured in person. When we are able to show all you FABbers, you'll see what we mean.

Right this very minute, Dylan is piecing together the acoustic guitar for our track called 'Do This With You.' This is going to be so sweet.

Holy Dancing in the Kitchen, Batman.

Fabbers,

Dylan sent us his drum ideas for three of the four tracks we will be recording the first week in November. That's right. We will be recording. We were shamelessly dancing and singing to our own stuff in the kitchen. Completely giddy. We can't wait until we have some things we can share and eventually GET IN YOUR HANDS. Laying Down the Tracks

The Adventures of FAB! These photos were shot on location at my apartment. Our friend and pastor, Joe Oliver, set up the make-shift studio and we shot for about two hours.

We listened to some great tunes (Joe's favorite, the Ting Tings) and laughed a lot as we let our inner super hero surface.

These first photos are just a glimpse of the redecoration effort that was necessary to get the shots we ended up with.

This shoot was a blast. We adore Joe's creativity and appreciate all the time he took to make us look so super. We love you, man!

Love at First...

Well kids - last night was life well lived on multiple different levels. First of all, a big thank you to everyone that showed up to listen. That was so awesome of you.

Secondly, a huge and whole hearted thank you to J Minus (http://www.jminus.com/) for the opportunity to play the same show. Meeting you, listening to you and spending time with you after the show made our year. Laughing with you guys is something we'll never forget. Please come back soon - we love, love, love, love, love you guys!

We busted out a couple new covers last night and feel like they went over really well. I know we enjoyed the heck of out playing them!

Another highlight of the evening was the pleasure of having the use of Katy Johnson bass, vocal and violin skills. She added a whole different dimension to the songs and it was a blast having her on board.

I suppose that is all - we're still on cloud nine after having the best time we could have ever hoped for! We'll post pictures as soon as they are available!

Last night was so great! Thanks to everyone who made it out. What a great group of people! And...seriously those guys are the funniest ever. Faces still ache from laughing so much. We are waaaay excited for when they come back into town. Too bad we have to wait until May. So, really, the logical thing is just to take a trip up to Seattle.

We will keep you posted. Until then, we are still just writing, practicing, and looking for places to play. Hit us up with any ideas.

Oh yeah--we were so stoked to add Katy Johnson to the music mix last night with smooth-like-butter harmonies and sweet bass and violin skills.

Giddy for this Sunday Night

Dear you,

We just needed to say that we are beyond giddy for this Sunday's performance. When Dylan Fant of JMinus proposed that we open the night up for them, our answer was, of course, a resounding YES!

We're planning on busting out one, maybe two, covers this time around and we're looking forward to putting our spin on things.

We can't wait to see you, hopefully you have sharpied us in and are travelling from miles around to come watch. If not for us, then certainly for the boys of JMinus. They're just so cute.

Just wanted to let you know about the next scheduled gig! Seattle greats J Minus will be coming through Boise on Sunday, September 13th. We will be opening for these guys (trust us--you DO NOT want to miss these guys--amazing band...one of the best you will ever hear).

Well! Fifth and Brook Place played our first "show!" It is safe to say that life, as we know it, will never be the same because we've been bit by the bug.

That had to have been the most exciting experience we've ever had. From all of the friends that so faithfully showed up and hooted and to the energy that came from just being on a stage - something we'll never forget.
